M249 recoil pattern
The M249 is Rust's top-tier light machine gun: a 100-round belt and huge damage. Controlling it over a long spray is a skill on its own. It climbs hard and needs a strong, steady pull.

How to control the M249
- 1Commit to the pull. It needs more downward movement than any rifle.
- 2Crouch and stay still for sprays. Moving with an M249 sends rounds everywhere.
- 3Great for raid defence and holding chokepoints where targets come to you.
- 4Burst at longer ranges; full sprays are for close and mid fights.
Using a Rust script with the M249
A Rust script (also called a recoil script or no-recoil macro) moves your mouse against the M249's spray for you, so your shots stay where you aim. The WipeReady Rust script has a profile tuned to the M249's exact spray pattern for every attachment, matched to your sensitivity and FOV.
You decide how much it does: at 100% horizontal and vertical control it holds the M249 steady, and lower settings hand more of the work back to you. Not sure yet? Feel it first in the free Recoil Range.
